People or more accurately, social interaction is one of the more confusing things in life, due to the fact that each person that interacts with another person only shows a part of themselves– akin to a shard of a mirror.

With different people, different shards are reflected in their eyes. So each shard of a personality is authentic but ultimately lacking.

The mirror that reflects a person’s personality will never be whole, as the mirror is essentially the perspective of every one who has interacted with you.

When all of those impressions come together, the mirror appears and shows a person’s full personality without any bias, as we are the ones most blind to our own flaws, yet remain keenly aware of the flaws of others.

This is an impossible condition since there’s no way for us to get everyone’s impression of us, as we’re already interacted with too many people, which dilutes the shard they possess of you.

So, there’s no true way of knowing every facet of a person’s being, leaving us to rely on our own impressions of them, which will always be biased in some way, positively or negatively.

Another thing to consider is that every human is different, some may be better at controlling what sides of themselves they want to show to others, some may be able to express more of themselves than others in their entirety– with their shards being smaller in quantity, yet more in quality.

Something that I find interesting is that some shards of a person can contradict each other, a person may like a certain topic or humor with group A. But with group B, they don’t ever mention it and show a dislike for that certain topic. Would this be considered as lying by omission? Since they’re selectively hiding parts of themselves in order to fit in better.

Would split personality disorder be a person who lacks the ability to control the shards of their personality?
